Flying Tiger Brewery

POSITION: Head Brewer
COMPANY: Flying TIger Brewery

OVERVIEW:
Flying Tiger Brewery in Monroe, Louisiana is offering a unique and exceptional opportunity for a creative, dedicated individual - with a passion for great beer and the compulsive attention to detail that it takes to consistently create it - to get in on the ground floor of the first craft brewery in northeast Louisiana. The original “Flying Tigers” were a legendary WWII squadron, led by General Claire Chennault, an iconic military hero and a native of Northeast Louisiana. We feel that the name we share with these men of honor will not only forge a deep connection with our community and the entire region, but more importantly permeate our company from the ground up with a sense of dedication, service and pride that is reflected in every aspect of our operation, but especially in the beer we produce.

Monroe is the largest city in Northeast Louisiana and the principal city in a metropolitan area of roughly 170,000. It is situated on the banks of the Ouachita River and is home to Century Link - a Fortune 500 company - and the University of Louisiana at Monroe. Our brewery has an exceptional location in the downtown area, which is in the midst of a major renaissance, and is in close proximity to popular restaurants and other drinking establishments. We have a 4000 Sq/ft warehouse in back that will house our 15 BBL brewing system. The warehouse shares a common wall with a 2000 sq/ft exposed brick front room that will be the taproom and live music venue. There is also a generous shaded area for outside seating. We plan to be open and fully operational by the spring of 2016.

QUALIFICATIONS: The ideal candidate will have completed a formal educational program in the science of brewing and have at least two years of practical experience as an assistant or a head brewer in a craft brewery. He must be a team player with above average communication and interpersonal skills, a disciplined work ethic, and the ability to be both a troubleshooter and a problem solver. But perhaps most importantly, we seek someone who understands that making great beer is as much art as it is science, who will appreciate the artistic leeway to experiment and be creative, yet who also understands that the staple of any successful craft brewery is a consistent, drinkable, “sessionable” beer. We seek someone who will view the beer he produces as a reflection not only on the company, but on himself and who will embrace the golden opportunity to help us establish the character and quality of our brand.
