MAGPIE BREWING CO.
Magpie was started in 2011 by four friends in a quiet alley in Seoul and along the way helped spark an explosion of craft beer. In Korea, the magpie is known to herald good news; like the bird, it's Magpie's mission to spread great beer and craft beer culture across the country. 
In 2012, we opened our first tiny brewshop in the sleepy neighborhood of Kyoungridan, with just one pale ale on tap, which set off a flurry of pale ales being brewed across Korea. We followed it up with our porter, made to be enjoyed year-round and upend people's expectations of what a dark beer can be.
In 2016, we opened our brewery on the north side of spectacular Jeju Island. Repurposing an abandoned tangerine warehouse, we built a beautiful brewery surrounded by the cleanest air and water in the country. Here we brew both our year-round classic series and our ever-expanding roster of seasonals and one-offs. Each spring, summer, fall and winter we release at least 3 seasonal beers, always giving our fans a reason to come back to try something new.
We believe you shouldn't have to travel far to enjoy great beer - so our goal is to offer Magpie across Korea. Since 2017 we've been expanding our nationwide sales to bring Magpie beer to you.
At Magpie, we make the kinds of beers that we love to drink. We like to push boundaries (we brewed the first sour in the country) and incorporate local unexpected ingredients (recently we've made beers with Jeju tangerine peel used for Korean traditional medicine as well as sancho pepper and smoked Korean hobak pumpkins) but above all we strive for balance and drinkability.
Craftsmanship, community and culture form our foundation; Magpie locations, design and collaborations all reflect those core values. Everywhere you find the little bird, you can experience what's happening in the Korean craft beer scene today.
